BANGOR, MAINE — Community Care Partnership of Maine improved care for more than 18,000 Medicare beneficiaries across the state and saved Medicare $5,761,929 by meeting quality and cost goals in 2019, according to recently released performance data from the federal agency that administers Medicare. 

Community Care Partnership of Maine earned a quality score of 92.17% on performance measures ranging from preventive health checks to use of computerized health records to preventing avoidable hospitalizations, Medicare data show. The $5,761,929 of gross savings to Medicare resulted in a shared savings payment of $2,655,332 to CCPM. CCPM and its member organizations, all of which are federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) or community hospitals, will use the performance payment to invest in infrastructure aimed to achieve continued improvements in the delivery of high-quality patient care. Performance year 2019 marks CCPM’s fourth consecutive year of success in generating savings under the program. In 2019 nationally, 541 ACOs caring for 11.2 million beneficiaries participated in the MSSP, generating gross savings of $1.19 billion based on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services methodology for setting financial benchmarks.
